Welcome to Madsen Retreat Penguin

Madsen Retreat opened its doors for business on 21 December 2016. Your hosts are Christopher Whitelaw and Ting Cao. We welcomed our first guest on New Year’s Eve 2016 – a mother and her teenage son. This is what they wrote in our guest book – “Friendly, relaxing beautiful space to unwind. Amazing hosts! Lovely experience.” That is what we aim to deliver, every time. That’s our quality assurance and guarantee. Madsen Retreat is located at 6A King Edward Street Penguin. 1200 square metres of landscaped lawns and gardens offering vista ocean views of the Bass Strait to each one of our rooms. A quiet little seaside village with its own beaches, shops, bank, post office, cafes and much more. Penguin is just a 15-minute scenic coastal drive from the bigger towns of Ulverstone to the East and Burnie to the West and the perfect place to make your base to explore the North West region. Even Cradle Mountain is just a 2-hour drive away. Over the last 12 months we have won a number of Tourism Excellence Awards, the last one being the Winner of the Central Coast 2017 Business Award for Outstanding Tourism Experience.
