House Rules For Guests

Dear Guest/ Visitor,

The following house rules and conditions will apply during your stay at Madsen Retreat and you are asked to read them carefully upon arrival.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR ISSUES ABOUT ANY OF THESE RULES PLEASE RAISE THAT WITH US ASAP after you check in.

  • Complete your checking in form with name, address, mobile number, email and credit card details when you check in. If you are a corporate guest, please provide your position in the company and the company name, address, email and phone number. This must be done and left at the reception desk or on the kitchen countertop within 48 hours of check in time.
  • Complete your breakfast selection/choice/options as soon as possible after check in and hand to host or leave at reception desk no later than 9pm. You will find this in your room.
  • Please carefully review the room inventory checklist located on the insider of your room door. This is the checklist our staff will check once you have gone, and if any item is missing we have the right to bill you for that item and take payment from your credit card. However, we will always email or call you first to ensure it was not accidentally packed with your own belongings.
  • Please do not use the downstairs kitchen or any of its utensils or whitegoods, other than the hot water jug and the microwave, unless you are booking the whole house and kitchen access and use is part of your booking arrangement, or unless arranged with the host.
  • Please ensure you study the fire emergency escape plan located near the fire extinguisher in the reception area.
  • Take note of all the exits in case of any need to evacuate.
  • Please read the Guest Information sheet located in the guest welcome and information booklet in your room as this contains important information to assist you during your stay.
  • Do not enter any room marked “private” or “office”, as these rooms are only for your hosts or the host’s manager.
  • Only use the front door key and room key or keys handed to you for your stay.
  • Please keep the front door locked when you exit the premises to keep the place secure.
  • Please turn room lights and any heater off when leaving the premises to out or before you check out on last day. Please conserve electricity at all times. If you don’t observe this rule during your stay we reserve the right to levy an additional charge of up to $30.
  • Do not use the downstairs bathroom unless you are allocated the downstairs bedroom (Pastel Room) opposite the bathroom.
  • Do not light any candles or cause any flame or ignition other than the lighter and candles in the spa bathroom.
  • If there are other guests during your stay, please limit hot showers or baths during peak usage time to ensure hot water does not run out.
  • Only use the downstairs telephone if you need to call your hosts – Chris and Ting, on 0414 975 370 or the owner of the Madsen Boutique Hotel at 64 Main Rd (Phil) – see his number affixed to the phone.
  • Parking is outside in the blue/grey parking bay area within the electronic gate. Parking spaces are clearly marked for two vehicles facing the garage roller door and for a third vehicle facing the grass strip to the right side of the building. Make sure you park your vehicle in a way that permits other cars to enter and leave the premises.
  • The laundry and outside drying lines are available only to those staying more than a single night or by arrangement with the host/manager.
  • If you have paid by credit card to the property owner, you will be given an eftpos customer receipt for your payment. If you want a formal tax invoice and receipt please request one and it will be prepared once you hand in your completed guest check in form.
  • Even if you have prepaid for your stay, we still require you to provide a valid credit card number and expiry date for us to keep on file for security reasons in case of damage or loss.
  • Please treat the house as if it was your own and take care of it. That means keeping your living area reasonably clean and tidy and not making or leaving any unusual mess, stains or markings that incur the property owner extra cost to clean up or rectify. If you choose not to observe this rule we reserve the right to levy an additional charge up to $50 and may deduct this from your credit card kept on file.
  • If any damage to property caused by you, deliberate or accidental, or any items listed in the room inventory are removed and not returned, we reserve the right to bill remedial or replacement cost to your nominated card.
  • If you select any thing from the mini bar please complete the purchase chit for the mini bar and arrange payment before you check out.
  • Please feel free to make use of any of the visitor information provided by us in the reception area.

Kitchen, Dining room and BBQ use rules kitchen

Dear Guest – Standard booking terms do not include use of the kitchen or outside bbq. You are invited however to use the downstairs sunroom and outside deck and tables and surrounding lawns. The dining room is principally to serve pre-purchased breakfast meals or breakfast ordered from the in-room menu.

However, by direct arrangement with us, you may, If circumstances permit –

  • Use kitchen utensils, cutlery, plates, cups, glasses
  • Use kitchen to prepare uncooked meals
  • Use kitchen to heat up pre-prepared meals
  • Use kitchen to cook own meals
  • Use dining room tables to eat own meals
  • Use outside bbq.

A usage fee will only be charged for following uses –

  • Kitchen/dining room use – making/serving own meals
  • BBQ use

Please note – Kitchen and dining room use to cook/serve own prepared meals will not be permitted when other guests are staying here.

We hope these rules are not too onerous and easy to comply with. We value your business and want you to return frequently.
